What is it you would like to learn or do that you never have? Paint, bungy jump, write, sing, set up a small business, go (back) to university or TAFE, learn Spanish? You can get a Ph D at 80+. You can become a masseuse. You can learn pilates yoga, tai chi and computing.
Continuing learning is good for the brain and longevity and having a discipline and purpose in the day, particularly if you are no longer in full time work. The option to re-educate yourself, to retrain, to prepare for and enter new work is also enticing. You don’t have to just accept redundancy, being 60, or being bored. You can do something different.The key factors are your attitude and opportunity. Open University is free as is the University of the 3rd Age (U3A). Public Libraries are also free. Community University Courses last for 6-8 weeks and charge a fee. There is a huge range of courses on offer - for beginners in almost anything and for advanced learning.
