The 40s, 50s and 60s are important years for our financial security. Generally these are the years when we can accumulate the wealth that will sustain us when we leave full time work for some form of retirement. During this time, we should get serious about planning for our future financial security. This generally means getting some competent financial advice and implementing a wealth creation strategy, both inside and outside your superannuation.

Seeing a financial planner a couple of months before you retire, is really leaving it too late. If you are going to accumulate enough money to keep you comfortable in retirement, you and your financial adviser need time to grow your wealth and let compounding interest work its wonders.

The last few years have taught us that the value of investments can go down as well as up. So you would be wise to take the time to educate yourself about investing and find a reputable financial adviser who can assist you to make the right decisions.
