There are two different transitional challenges here: one about adult children who are still living in your home, and another challenge with those who are independent but are themselves now rearing a young family.
We may have expected that, by the time we retire, any children would now be separate adults with lives of their own; but it’s also possible that our adult children keep coming back home to stay, or haven’t quite managed to leave yet.
