Mutton dressed up as Lamb

We’ve all seen it – the women who could clearly be described as ‘mutton dressed up as lamb’.  Donned with their bouffant hairstyle, clothes too tight, too brief and too outdated they strut their stuff, thinking they look fantastic.  People smirk behind their hands and say to their friend – gaud, did you see Myrtle today – another one of her outfits – didn’t she look stupid?  You think she’d have more sense at her age. But no one tells Myrtle – they just continue to point the finger and laugh.

I’d seen it but I never really knew what the term ‘mutton dressed up as lamb’ meant until I got to that point in my life. I now think that it has a lot more to do with the women who could fit…
