A: No. Sunscreen is a safe and important part of sun protection behaviour.
Sunscreen has been around for about 80 years and most of us wouldn't think of heading off to the beach or sports field without it. In fact, many of us apply it every day – perhaps in the form of makeup or moisturiser. After all, it protects us from the sun's ultraviolet (UV) rays, which we know cause sunburn and skin cancers.
But some people say wearing sunscreen regularly is harmful, claiming some of its ingredients actually promote the development of skin cancer and other diseases.
